How to Heal Breakouts and Pimples in 5 Steps

Breakouts got you down? You’re not alone! With our stress levels skyrocketing and maskne, aka mask acne, running a-mock, our skin is in disarray! Fortunately, for all of us, there are 5 simple steps you can take right this moment to heal your breakouts within a couple of days!

  1. Leave your active breakouts and pimples the heck alone! Simple right? NOPE! I, myself, even find difficulty leaving blackheads, whiteheads, and even cystic acne alone! We’re human right?! But the best, cheapest and simplest thing you can do to allow your active pimples to heal naturally is to leave them alone. Don’t pick, don’t pop, and definitely do not scratch! Your skin will naturally exfoliate and do its healing process without the extra bacteria and irritation you may have caused!

  2. If you have cystic acne or a very angry pimple, use a warm or cold compress in that area! My favorite kind of compress is green tea bags. Yup, green tea! Steep a bag of green tea and set it aside. Let it cool and gently apply it onto pimples. I do this for two reasons: 1. Green tea is naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal! Therefore, applying it to your skin transfers some of those healing properties to your active breakouts. 2. The warm compress will alleviate some of the redness, irritation, and inflammation!

  3. Drink the green tea, sis! Chug that thing! Ingesting at least 2-3 cups of green tea a day has been proven to provide regenerative properties to your overall health, including your skin! It improves brain function, increases fat burning, lowers the risk of heart disease, and is jam-packed with antioxidants, which are incredibly efficient at preventing inflammation!

4. Incorporate ingredients such as BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) into your skincare! Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid. It's well-known for reducing acne by exfoliating the skin and keeping pores clear. It sheds dead cells from the top layer of your skin and decreasing redness and swelling while speeding the healing process of pimples. Salicylic acid can be found in the BHA Salicylic Spot Treatment!

5. Include ingredients such as AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) into your skincare! Glycolic Acid has antibacterial and antioxidant activity, which can also help improve your skin's appearance when you have acne. Glycolic acid can also thicken skin by stimulating collagen growth. Glycolic Acid is a main ingredient in the Mint AHA Glycolic Body Scrub!
